The Big C Cancer support centre is a cancer support charity based in the grounds of the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital. It is dedicated to supporting people affected by cancer, from diagnosis through to life after cancer.
We recently donated £3,500 to the charity to allow them to update their kitchen, which is used not only for refreshments, but also for nutrition workshops and demonstrations. The grant allowed The Big C to fully update the kitchen with new units and worktops, making it more welcoming and modern for the team and visitors.
Jo Leah, head of fundraising at The Big C, said: “The Big C cancer support centre is based in the grounds of the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. We aim to provide a supportive and welcoming environment to anyone who visits us and that will often involve a cuppa. With this incredible grant we have been able to modernise facilities ensuring our staff can optimise their time with families affected by cancer who are seeking practical and emotional support.”
Kile at Giving Days said: “We are incredibly proud to support The Big C so that it can continue its excellent work to provide cancer support in the region. The money we donated for the kitchen project has provided the team, visitors and groups with a modern space and kitchen facilities to gain support and relax over a coffee, as well as enjoy demos and group visits. I recently visited the kitchen after the refurb and it looks fantastic, and we hope that it will be enjoyed for many years to come.”
The Big C provides 1:1 counselling sessions and complementary therapies to support groups and drop in chats.
