£5,000 grant given to support Star Throwers

We’re happy to announce our support for the amazing local charity, Star Throwers, by giving them a £5,000 grant to help them refurbish their therapy room.

The room is now complete, and the donation helped make the room a more usable space for Star Throwers service users, including a bereavement support group who used to meet in the kitchen but outgrew the space and needed a warm, comfortable and safe space to come together.

Victoria Pigg, operations and fundraising manager at Star Throwers, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Giving Days for supporting the upgrade of one of our larger rooms at the centre through a generous grant. We have been able to improve the layout and aesthetics of the room by extending the space, decorating the room, refurbishing chairs and purchasing new items such as curtains and lighting. The room has a mixture of uses from our support groups, pilates lessons and now we are also able to divide the room into a smaller usable space for our counselling sessions when needed. The grant has enabled us to create a calm and welcoming space for the people we support who are affected by cancer.”

Star Throwers is a cancer support charity based in Norfolk dedicated to supporting people affected by cancer, from diagnosis through to life after cancer. They provide cancer information sessions to help people become well-informed about their cancer and all their treatment options
