Giving Days continues to support Star Throwers with a £5,000 grant.

We have continued to support Star Throwers, a cancer support centre in Wymondham, by providing a £5,000 grant to help them replace their unsafe outdoor decking with a brand-new paved patio. The centre is a vital community space that offers support to cancer patients, their families, and carers in a warm and welcoming environment.

The grant funded removing the rotting, hazardous decking and replacing it with a safe, all-weather patio area. This space is used throughout the year by patients, staff, and volunteers, as well as for community events such as Coffee Mornings, Garden Parties, and bereavement support sessions. The upgrade ensures that visitors can continue to enjoy the centre’s beautiful garden in comfort and safety.

Victoria Pigg, Operations & Fundraising Manager at Star Throwers, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation from Giving Days to enable us to replace our decking area at the Star Throwers Cancer Support Centre. This outside area had become unusable and dangerous due to the decking rotting and being broken in many places. This area is used by our staff, volunteers, and service users during the better months to sit and enjoy our beautiful gardens. The decking has been replaced by a patio area and is now a safe space for us to use during the centre hours and at our events such as Coffee Mornings and our annual Garden Party. Star Throwers was founded to provide specialist support, advice, and care to those affected by cancer; ensuring they have a safe and peaceful place to turn to. With the new patio in place, the centre can continue to offer a comfortable outdoor space for relaxation and connection; benefiting over 250 people each year.
