Giving Days supports a book bringing comfort to families nationwide
24 December 2025
We’re delighted to share that Giving Days has supported the printing and publication of ‘No Two Flowers Are the Same’ – a wonderful, inclusive picture book inspired by real families cared for by Roald Dahl Nurses.
Written by Roald Dahl Nurses and developed in partnership with Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, the book was created to reflect the diverse families they support. The charity provides specialist nurses and vital support to seriously ill children and their families across the UK.
This warm and heartfelt book shines a light on the real experiences of children living with neurodisabilities and complex conditions. It helps siblings make sense of their feelings, approach differences with kindness, and know they’re not alone. Created by working closely with families and healthcare professionals, it celebrates resilience, individuality, and the unique beauty that makes every child special.
Thanks to Giving Days providing a grant of £ 4,320.00, 1,000 copies have already been printed and are being distributed to families of seriously ill babies, each accompanied by a wellbeing resource pack. These books form the heart of a new family support package, shaped by the insights of Roald Dahl Nurses – parents navigating overwhelming diagnoses, siblings trying to process big emotions, and families seeking accessible, gentle ways to talk about what they’re experiencing.
‘No Two Flowers Are the Same’ goes beyond being a story to provide families with moments of calm, reflection, and connection. It helps parents and children have gentle, honest conversations, gives siblings a safe way to share feelings they might not know how to express, and provides healthcare professionals with a caring resource to support families through some of life’s hardest moments.
The project is being delivered throughout the UK, prioritising families in the East of England. Families are already receiving their copies, bringing comfort and understanding at a critical stage in their journey.
Through this project, 1,000 families are benefiting directly, while many more will feel the indirect impact – siblings finding reassurance in shared experiences, parents feeling empowered to nurture emotional wellbeing, and nurses gaining practical tools to support resilience and hope in families facing complex medical challenges.
Giving Days’ Director of Programmes said:
“‘No Two Flowers Are the Same’ is more than a book – it’s a lifeline. It gives families a language for emotions that can be hard to express and helps children understand that being different is something to celebrate, not fear. We’re so grateful to Giving Days for helping us bring this much-needed resource to families who need it most.”
We’re proud to support this compassionate and creative project that brings light, understanding, and reassurance to families dealing with some of life’s most difficult moments.
