We make our first grant to local charity, Break
24 July 2023

We are pleased to announce that we’ve made our first grant to the brilliant local charity, Break!
Our first Giving Days Grant comprised £2,000, enabling Break to buy a new battery for its Coffee Break van.
Break launched its CoffeeBreak project in 2020 to support young people who have either recently left or are about to leave the care system and live independently for the first time. It’s helping young people to learn new skills, boost their confidence and give them the best possible chances of securing jobs after leaving care.
The van needed a new battery to run the catering equipment and to enable the van to go to more events off-grid, which will result in more young people being able to learn important skills. We thought this was an brilliant project to support, and the automotive link is a nice one.
Joe Walden, opportunities lead at Break and who works on the Coffee Break van, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Giving Days for their generous donation which will mean we can use our CoffeeBreak van in more places, giving our young people more opportunities for work experience, whilst also helping us raise more funds for the charity. The supercar experience was amazing and I know that both our young care leavers loved every minute and it will definitely be a day that they’ll never forget.”
