We’re proud to support Assist Trust, a Norwich-based organisation that helps adults with learning disabilities gain confidence and independence. We’ve provided a grant of £3,744.72 to fund new accessible outdoor furniture at their Heath Gardens Allotment Site.

Heath Gardens is a vital community space where members take part in gardening, cooking, art, sport, and more. However, after years of daily use, much of the outdoor seating had become worn and in need of replacement. Our grant will enable the purchase of wheelchair-accessible picnic tables, high-backed patio chairs, garden benches, and parasols.

The new furniture will make the site more inclusive for members with mobility challenges and sensory sensitivities. It will provide essential rest areas during physical activities and encourage longer, more social visits throughout the year.

Richard from the Assist Trust said: “Receiving Giving Days funding for new accessible garden furniture has been fantastic for the adults with learning disabilities that Assist works with. People with a range of mobility and other needs can now access the area far more manageably and can enjoy the peace and tranquillity that the Gardens site can offer. It has become a very popular destination for the individuals we work with.”

Assist Trust is a Norwich based progression day service for adults with learning disabilities in Norfolk. They encourage their members to gradually take on responsibilities and support them to learn about expectations in the real world.
